In a Heartbeat Art Gallery

Art in Eden Mills Ontario

About Us

In a Heartbeat Art Gallery, opened in the winter of 2008, is located in the center of picturesque Eden Mills Ontario, just ten minutes west of Guelph.  Eden Mills is a renowned artist community although few studios are open year-round, and as a life-long collector Michael felt their inspiring works deserved more attention.  And so became the In a Heartbeat gallery, currently drawing attention back to our beautiful village and showcasing not only local artists, but also Ontario-wide artists.

Set in an 1860's stone building, In a Heartbeat showcase local and Ontario artists.  The gallery was built originally as the general store and slowly grew from a single room stone building to encompassing two additions, a second floor living space and a magical stone ruin off the back of the house.  Located on the main street in Eden Mills In a Heartbeat as a store has been re-invented many times, and will remain a landmark in town which holds memories for many  generations past.

Gallery owner, Michael Coull explains that "it was a dream of mine to have a gallery here".  As an avid life long art collector, he always envisioned this gallery filled with magical and mystical objects bringing people together in this warm and comfortable space.  The gallery assembles the spirit of so many talented artists and brings their work to life.

Come and visit us to enjoy the wood heated warmth of the rustic and sophisticated In a Heartbeat Gallery.

The Gallery

Our exhibition space, The Stone Room is a separate room off of the main gallery.  It is approximately 500 square feet with original hardwood floors, a high exposed beam ceiling, and a floor to ceiling stone fireplace with a dramatic 8.5 foot hearth.  We also have a 200 square foot ruin off the back with original stone walls and  a trellis roof.  The room has elegance and rustic appeal.  It shows a variety of art media beautifully and provides a unique and comfortable atmosphere further reflected by the sophistication and calm of the remainder of the gallery.

The exhibition room is available for private hire for art exhibitions and intimate events.

Things to do near Eden Mills

Rockwood is just 5 minutes from Eden Mills and hosts many places to eat and shop. We recommend Heaven on Seven for a wonderful meal and the Rockwood Conservation Area for camping, swimming and a walk through history on the Eramosa River which has powered many mid 1800's mills.  The Eramosa River is well fished and boated. Kayak and canoe runs are particularly invigorating during the spring runoff.  There are many walking trails in the area which are good for the soul and your dog. Moffat, just moments away, is the site of Dar’s Bakery which you will not want to miss.

Eden Mills has over 20 artists studios most of which are open by appointment or chance.  Several of Eden's artists have their work at In a Heartbeat
